Removing Nose Putty
Oh my goodness, I think I goofed big time. Got a brand new nose, and they suggested using Jim Howle's nose putty. So I put the putty in the nose, along the sides, on the top, not a lot of it but kind of all over. Well when I removed my nose, it says to pick off the biggest pieces of putty and restore in the container. How on earth do I remove the rest of the putty which seems to be all over the inside now, warm and very sticky, getting all over the outside of the nose. I tried using some alcohol since it said to clean off and out the nose and my real nose before using with alcholol but the color is coming off the nose, :-( and still putty inside. Is my nose history after one wearing? Or will the darn remaining putty harden up and I can try somethihg else? I sure wish when they sold us stuff, it would come with better directions, people who are new with no mentors, clown parts are expensive and if we wreck something, I don't have enough money to make ends meet in the month the way it is these days, without having to spring for another nose. I feel really stupid on this one, should have stuck with a nose tip instead of going for the big red job. Snoopers

Perhaps baby shampoo and water, or mineral oil, or spirit gum remover, or makeup remover?
In any case, do not despair. Just be patient and begin trying various solvents until you land on something that works. I mix and match products constantly, and sometimes I wind up with some insane mixtures seemingly glued permanently to my face -- but I've always gotten it off eventually

First relax and put the nose down. Now take a deep breath. As the putty cools it will harden up some and be a little easier to remove. Also, you don't need to get all of the putty out of your nose. Leaving a little bit until next time doesn't hurt at all, it just means that you won't need as much fresh putty the next time. As for cleaning off the outside, since it is just the putty first use a plain, dry paper towel to gently rub it off. I also use a baby wipe to shine my noses back up. Everything will be fine.

In other words... Stop picking at your nose!
Sorry, I just couldn't resist!

Nose fixed
Thank you to all who responded to my panick attack after I removed the nose and couldn't get off the putty. It was everywhere, now that Saturday is several days behind me, I'm laughing pretty hard and my reaction. There was warm sticky putty every where, on me of course, all over the outside and inside of the nose, couldn't pick it off, couldn't rub it off, it was everywhere and I even had it all over the counter top. Finally a long drink of water, a 20 minute break, with deep breathing, I went back out to the kitchen to re-evaluate the situation. I ended up using mineral oil, worked like a charm, pour on the oil, rub, 20 minutes later, the nose was clean as a whistle and no more red came off. However, I'm never using that putty again, I'm too inexperienced, and have no clue to really understand how it's used and removed with out going through a mess like I ended up with. So if anyone wants a nice clean nose to pick, call, and I'll try accommodate you. Thanks again for all the posts and suggestions. Couldn't have done it without you. Snoopers

On the off chance that someone does not know, many things clown related like makeup and nose putty disolve very easily with mineral oil / baby oil / baby shampoo.
* Baby Oil is Mineral Oil in a more expensive package (and probably with perfume?)
* Seemingly most Baby Shampoo also contains some baby oil so if you need something less greasy for removing makeup, try that instead.
* Removing clown makeup with Mineral Oil is easy, painless, and takes just a couple minutes. Pour some oil in your hands then rub it all over your face -- the makeup will turn into a gray sludge. Just wipe it off with a towel and you're done. For reds you might need to repeat. When you're finished launder the towel (just slide it into the regular wash without telling your wife), and your finished!
