Angry Nose adhesives advice request

Someone suggested spraying with hair spray when I use it to retain it's shine, anyone ever do that? Results if any?
Putty, won't be using that stuff again, I'm too inexperienced. Too messy to deal with, let alone get rid of once I take the nose off, can't get the putty off the inside of the nose easily. Suggestions for how to keep the nose on without using the string method? The nose is bigger than my own at the tip and top, lower sides fit nicely. So will have to stick to doing the sides and very top on the flat part, what do you all use to keep on your noses. Thank you in advance for your advice and suggestions. Snoopers

I use a ProNose as I don't like to use a string holding my nose on either unless the red nose I am using is really big and I know that no amount of spirit gum will keep it on. However, in answer to your question I use:

"Ben Nye's Prosthetic Adhesive"

Basically I put some on my (real) nose and let it dry as well as some on the inside of my (clown) nose and let it dry as well. wait about 5 minutes and apply the nose to my face. It has lasted me 5+ hours, doesn't itch or anything and removal is very easy.

And what's wrong with using a string? jk

To me the magic is gone when a clown loses a nose or a wig.
I am a very active clown, 15 or so year back I lost my nose in a parade riding a unicycle and went to a string the next day and will never go back.

Back when I did glue it. I would put maskingtape in the inside of the nose and put the glue on the tape. When the glue built up to much I would just remove the tape and with it the glue. Then just put a new piece of tape in. Best to start doing this when the nose is new.

I'm curious, do most of the other clowns you work with adhere their noses or use a string?

Most of the other clowns in our are use Spirit Gum or Pro Nose, but there are a few others who prefer the string.

My Dad uses the Pro Nose, puts the glue on both his real nose and the inside of the clown nose, waits til it turns clear, then puts the nose on. His nose will stay on for a good 10/+ hours, no problems.

I've used "sticky stuff" the two sided tape it works well, stays on long and doesn't leave much if an residue.
downside for me is it's to long [doubling doesn't work on me] so I have to cut it then part of it still occasionally show so it actually take me longer to use it.

Pro nose adhesive, works great stays on at least 12 hrs for me. but you have to use remover to clean it, the adhesive can build up.

Putty, can get messy if you try to remove it. I just leave it in the nose, Last one lasted around two years. before replacing.

I've never tried the string, mainly because I can't stand anytype of elastic band around my head, I think it around my face would drive me nuts.

I don't understand why you need to remove the putty from your nose. I do the same as Saphire Sue -- just leave the putty in until I need a new nose. If it starts to lose its stick, I just add a little fresh putty. I like being able to remove my nose if I need to blow my nose or something (it sure beats the traditional method of sticking Q-tips up your clown nostril -- YUCKY!!) I could never remove the nose adhesive from my skin without some serious scrubbing, and the putty eliminates that problem.

I have tried the string, and would still use it if I needed to. But it hurts where in goes over my ears. I can take it for a little while but then it cuts in. Maybe my ears are in the wrong place.

The "Sticky Stuff" brand nose adhesive can't be beat. Head and tails above anything else I've tried. Quick, convenient, no mess, no hassles. They are a little longer than needed, but nothing a quick snip won't fix. I use proknows, and haven't lost one yet!
