I think the chemical brothers and David Lachapelle has got something to do with it, they helped spread the concept of Krump dancing to the mainstream.

But even before that in 2003, Shake city 101 got released, the first? Krump dancing movie http://www.fattvideos.com/dvd_video/...01_KRUMP_DANCE

Famous director/photographer David Lachapelle got a taste of krump dancing when making "Dirty" for Aguliera, and he made a film about it later on. "Enter the dragon":

Apparently Krumping is a offbreed or the evolution of clowning (the dance style), only slower and more aggressive. Clowning is said to have started in 92:

I started dressing like a clown [for kids’ parties] ad combining it with hip-hop moves, and then in 1992 began teaching it to kids in South Central to channel their negative energy.
“There are a lot of African influences with the face paint,” LaChapelle notes. “It’s like African war paint.” Maybe it was originally just that, but along the line someone mixed it up with clown makeup? Or maybe it's the other way around. Hard to tell.

Anyhow, I think it's a great dancestyle, and the more people that bring diversity to the streets or dancefloors the better. I'm wondering if it will catch on in Europe soon, it wouldn't surprise me.
btw, It's really hard to do, you must really "go nuts" to get the required intensity into your dancing. To make it krump.

And btw, it's not original.
But I might try to do better later.
