Hey Cyclops. I would also think of clowns viewed in a genderless term. I guess it may be how you would be applying it. If a generalization I would think genderless all the way. If addressing whether a clown is required to be male or female (say upon hiring) then probably female clown or male clown, or say girl clown or boy clown.
