Default Music Types?

Howdy Everyone,

I'm a breakdancer and I've become interested in Clowning(aswell as Krumping). My main inspiration for my interest(along with many other local breakers) has been the movie RIZE. I know the music in the movie is not the actual music the Clowns and Krumpers are dancing to. I am looking for music suggestions, or some song names, to use for Clowning and Krumping.

I am well aware of the deeper motions(emotional values and how Clowning and Krumping have affected many communities) and I do understand the evolutions of the two styles of dance. I hope no-one takes offense to my asking for suggestions for Krump music aswell as Clown music on a Clowning forum.

Thank-you very much for any suggestions!

Take care and Happy Holidays!

Chris

Well you can ask anything, not sure if I'll be much help though. I've heard of Krumping and that it's mostly out west, but it hasn't made it to my neck of the woods yet, so sorry no help there.

Clown music, should tie into what you're doing. I don't mean you need music that sings about what you doing, but music that helps set the scene. Classical can work, like flight of the bumble bee for fast paced scene and we all know that scary music. Calliape[ sorry my speller is broke] circus type music can be great for intro, and skits, just about anything will work as long as it goes with what ever you're doing.

Can you provide us with some sort of sample of krumping music? I think that some of us may be familair with the phenomenon, but have not necessarily experienced it.

just wanted to add one word of caution, I can't find the web. site now but I will try and look for it. There is one on royality free music. If your planning a big show, ya might want to stay away from current hits or some one can hit you up for copywrite [or charge you something for not having their permission] Don't know any one this has happened to, but several have warned of this in other groups.

If anyone else is curious about krumping or the movie Rize (and you have a fast enough connection to the net), you can view the trailer for the movie here.

Quote:
Former commercial photographer and music video director David LaChapelle delves into the "krumping" culture in South Central Los Angeles, capturing the unbelievable gyrations of dancers with moves so quick that they warrant a special disclaimer. The high-octane documentary centers on "Tommy the Clown," a former birthday entertainer who opened a school to train community kids to krump -- and keep them out of trouble.
I've put Rize on my queue, I'm curious to see what it's all about.

I use a CD "Drew Careys Dance Tunes" I got at Party City. It has YMCA, The Chicken Dance, Celebration Time (thats what I blast as I enter the b-day party room), In The Mood, etc. all the fun party stuff. I have that playing in the back ground the entire show. Its so upbeat it keeps the pace going & I dance, shake my booty (my petticoat swishes side to side & people laugh!) Don't know what that is sooo funny! But hey, a clown has to do what a clown has to do to get a laugh when you are not a funny clown! The adults love it too & they dance! I blast it during balloon time & they have big giant smiles on. Something about those songs really make people happy!

At school fair this morning, [it was raining so the move it indoors] the teachers had set of dancing in one room, so I joined in for the Chicken Dance and the Macrana [sp?]. Then my daughter kept getting my kazoo and doing the tune in the hall, had a lot of fun,
