I have this and its great for stage shows but I sometimes use it at birthday parties and use the birthday chold as my assistant which lets him in on the trick but makes him feel special

The neck twister is a great trick. The sound effect is needed though. you need to attach a ratchet to the top of it so that when you turn it, you get the creeeeeaaaaaak effect.
I agree though, If you're handy, build it!

Hey, Mr. Todd, my clowny boyfriend just suggested that a good outer box for this may be an old TV set, with the tube removed, of course. What do you think?

I'm not sure but I think that old TV sets would be either be too heavy or too flimsy, being made of cheap plastic and all. You would need one with a fairly flat top to install the crank. Interesting to think about.
