Default New Props

I went to Display and Costume Supply and they had a full rack of classic dime store gags. Joy buzzers, fly in the ice cube, itching powder, exploding cigarettes etc. So I picked up a few items!

Bill Snatcher (attach one end to a dollar or light weight object and it reels it in with a small contraption).

A rattlesnake eggs gag (in which you have an envelope which warns the opener that rattlesnake eggs are inside and has a bit of info about rattlesnakes and the word CAUTION in red. You wind up a small washer on a rubber band set into a C shaped frame and stick it in the envelope then as the victim opens it, it spins and makes a startling rattle sound.

A large sized old fashioned (The Stork Club) looking matchbook that is actually a notebook.

And just for fun lets throw in three juggling scarves of different colors.

I'll start this one off as well. I pull from my suitcase an envelope which claims to hold live rattlesnake eggs (on a side note rattlesnakes actually have live babies and don't lay eggs!) and I show it to the audience. I pretend to hear something inside and drop it startled. I have previously attached the bill snatcher to it and I secretly put it into action, causing the bag to move slowly towards me, as I keep backing away it keeps following me.

So I say to the audience that if the eggs are covered they should fall asleep. I lay the scarves over it and snatch up the envelope. Then I take it over to an audience member and ask them to check for me. As they open it, it rattles and vibrates in their hand startlingly. I tell them that rattlesnakes don't lay eggs and laugh all the way back to the stage!

I didn't use the giant matchbook.

So what would you do with these props?

I have found that magic and comedy to be great ice breaking tools. I always have something on me to entertain someone or even myself.
