Hi,
I'm looking for a prop: it's a hammer that explodes when you hit someone/something...
I saw it in a couple of video's (i can't find them anymore) and i really need to know where i can buy it or how i can make it
Thanks,
Cassie

I called Leon McBride on this one. The ones used in the Circus Are equipped with a .38 caliber blank cartridge. This is not a DIY project. Leon said they were dangerous and must be built very well. The firing mechanism and chamber must be made from steel. I think I would find a reputable gunsmith who could construct the mechanism for you. Leon said the hammer could be made out of Schedule forty, but the mechanism must be steel.

Is there another place I could get this?

You would necessarily need a gunsmith. A steel tube welded to a flat sheet of steel say 2cm thick. Drill a hole in the flat steel right in the middle of the area where the pipe is. The hole should be just big enough for the blank to fit with the lip of the casing resting against the steel.

Getting blanks might be difficult. Another option might be a battery operated flash pot type system. Can you get some fairly loud fire crackers? Using the igniters for model rockets engines and fire crackers would be a some what close second and might be safer for you.

my thought was torpedoes. Remember them? the fire cracker that you throw on the ground and they go off with a loud bang. they might be able to be used. However, in Belgium, I'm not sure what is legal.
