Hobo's Penthouse
I've been putting together a concept tonight for a routine that takes place at a hobo's makeshift house. It's a stage show so I don't have to worry as much about it being super transportable though that would add charm.
Right now I only have the routine idea, no story or anything yet, just a bunch of sight gags really. I wanted to get some clown opinions and suggestions.
The house is just a make shift room with everything inside made out of cheap materials like paper and cardboard etc. The hobo has created all of life's modern comforts dirt cheap. Here are the sight gags I have so far:
A TV which is just a cardboard box that a newspaper spools through so he can watch cartoons (The funny pages) watch the news, sports etc. He controls it with a cardboard remote which is attached to the bottom of the spooled newspaper and by pulling the TV "channels" change.
He's got an Ipod made out of an old no frills music box but he plugs headphones or something into it anyway.
He's got a computer, printer and internet. The internet is just a box labeled "internet" that can spool to the "computer" and the printer is just a piece of paper that comes out of the side of the screen.
I would love some more cheap electronics or furniture ideas if you guys have some!

how about borrowing a page from Red Skelton? Locate some Freddy tue freeloader footage. Freddy lived in a shack at the dump with all the modern convienices. including a bath tub that doubled as a bed. The "Guest room" featured a "Murphy bed" They were made to fold into the wall for small spaces. It was another bath tub!

To go with that computer you could also have an old computer mouse in a mason jar labled "Microsoftus Dysfunctionous" ... That would be a 'Dead mouse in a Jar'

A microwave - a cardboard box with a door cut into the side. He opens the door puts the food in waits a minute like it is actually working (he could even open the door once to "check" his food then pull it out and start eating with relish.
