Default The Stumpf Fiddle

Here's a great instrument I use when I do gigs with different musicians I know just to mix up the show a bit. It's called the Stumpf Fiddle. They would make a great prop to bring around with you while at a city festival or music festival and (if it seems like it would be welcomed) join in the jam.

Here is a video of an explanation of the Stumpf Fiddle

Here is a video of it being played along with a song.

And here is a link to a place that sells them if you would like a really nice one.

I make my own and you should at least try making one yourself before purchasing one. Making them is more than half of the fun!

There was a lady Clown up north of here (in Indiana) who played the Stumpfiddle and it was really COOL.

There ya go Brian. Your Hobo name could be FIDDLESTIX as in 'Stumpfiddle'. Now, all you need is a Bass Fiddle case to carry it in (BIG case,,,,Smaller instrument, Whatta Hoot!)

Great Post!

I had one for sale in the music store I used to manage.

....I HATED the thing! It's a great clown prop though!

I called it the "Jam Breaker." It's a great instrument in competent hands. And torture in the wrong ones....

Did you actually make it available for people to play in the store? Yeesh! I can imagine it in the wrong hands. (*shivers*)

I see your name changed.
Welcome Fiddlestix H. McWhiskers. Now you'll have to make a MySpace site for your character.
