Default Skit for Relay for Life

Our Relay for Life is June 14. The chairman has requested that I perform a skit and participate in Relay. I'm at a total loss with ideas. I have no clue what to do.

Our Relay theme is a nascar theme "In Race for a Cure" I would like to do at least one skit to go along with the theme.

I'm also a bald clown and was thinking that since my clown has no hair maybe I could work with that since a lot of cancer patients have lost their hair but I don't want to offend anyone either.

I hope someone can help me out!

"Relay" suggest all sort of things to me. One thing you can definitly do is in the relay, try and hand off to yourself and keep on failing. Or if you dont want to do that much, follow the guy you handed off to (if you can arragnge to grab a golf cart along the way it would be even funnier) and keep handing him relay "sticks" like flowers, rubber chickens, news papers, sticks, whisks, and so on.

As for the skit, alot depends on what you can do and the rescources you have already...

When and where would he like to see you perform? Is it near the beginning on the main stage? If so could he (or the MC) play the part of the straightman while you are all confused. You come in carrying your binoculars, seat cushion and sunglasses because you are there to watch Ryan Newman and your other Nascar favorites race.

I've noticed a lot of clowns are doing Relay for Life. I think that is really fantastic. You guys have got me inspired to do one! What sort of stuff goes on? Stage shows? Concerts? What could I expect as a performer going into Relay for Life?

RD might have a better answer than I have. I was only there for two to three hours and I was so busy doing my schitck with the balloons I didn't notice what else was going on.

A relay for life is a relay where people walk around a track or some other walkway to raise monet for cancer
there are teams of people who get sponsors to walk and at least one member of the team has to be walking at all times during the 24 hr period
As far as enterainment goes it could be anything
I do balloons and walk arounds and sometimes get to go on stage and play with the radio guy and just have fun

We're doing our first Relay for Life soon. We've never been to one before. We'll doing balloon twisting and walk-around. I have a feeling, from talking with the organizers, that we'll be so busy we won't have time to notice what else is going on!

Default Relay For Life

Hello everyone. This is my first post. My clown name is MrDukintux. My computer skills are lacking, so posting pictures or even getting my name right is a major issue for me.
I have participated in "Relay For Life" in the borough of Manhatten in NYC. It is a very emotional and moving experience. There is Police, Fire Dept, Corporate sponsorship and newpaper coverage. The NYPD was so happy to have us volunteer our services , that they picked us up and drove us back.
(We did get some strange looks from people in other cars)
At the event people walked around the track. People who had lost people to cancer wore pictures of them. Cancer Survivors wore a special banner., while walking '
One of the clowns I came with was a cancer survivor and she walked around with the banner. People were really taken aback by that. After the walk ended, the lights dimmed and people spoke about people they had lost to cancer. This continued until the next morning. ( Im out of space)

Default Relay For Life

Hello Again

In my previous post I mentioned my lack of computer skills.
To continue: While we were waiting for the relay to begin and while it was going on the we were doing our schtick with the children and some adults.
We made balloons, and did comedy walk around magic and improvisational skits with the children and teens and just tryed to be funny in general. We left when the tributes to people who passed from cancer started but we heard a few of them.

Though not related to this post , we also did Make-A-Wish Foundation at Astroland in Coney Island in my home borough of Brooklyn

Welcome to the Forum, Mr. Dukintux.

Though I now live in TX, I was born and raised in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn and will always consider myself a New Yorker. As I've often said, you can take the boy out of Brooklyn, but you can't take Brooklyn out of the boy.
