Earth Day April 16, 2005
I posted this eariler on Clown Forum but thought I might get more reply here maybe... I belong to Gator Clowns of Jacksonville Fl Yahoo Kazoo Band. We have a 45 min spot center stage for Earth Day April 16th. If anyone knows any skits, puppetry, jokes, funny songs, walk arounds, pocket magic, etc... that would help us out and save the world, rainforest, risky critters etc...
We would greatly appreciate it. Jamz already gave us the sweeping under the rug and saying were cleaning up the world. This was great! Please help us...
Thanks P.U.

SORRY I keep drawing blank. look at the list of walkarounds and parade, maybe you could adapt some of those. A change bag in which you put in some small toy trash ie barie soda can etc and bring out some thing on the other side to show recyling, can you do christian based, song He's got the whole World in His hands. and "Pa pa can you hear me" is a beautiful song about earth and how we treat it, not for a clown but a puppet could sing. A feather duster as a prop to clean up you shoe, remove troubles and frowns etc.
I mean to clean up your show as in clean act.

HI PU! I have an idea that might be a tad costly, or may be too unsanitary for some. But how about renting the smallest oxygen tank you can find, dress it up with brown paper (to appear as a tree trunk) and add some tree branches. Then remind people that without trees you would not have oxygen to breath. "Here, see for yourself", offering them a quick wif from the oxygen mask! I applaud your cause, and appreciate your efforts! Make a Large "disposable razor" from those swim noodles - it'll take some hot gluing
and carving with an electric knife.
Then wear a sign saying "Shave the whales"

Do you have a change bag?
If you do you could take it and put in a dented up can and put it in the bag and have a fully restored can appear.
Allowing you to talk about "recycling is like magic"
Or you could use crinkled up and torn paper and have that "restored" ala change bag.
Just a couple of thoughts....

A couple more thoughts on the change bag.......
If you are going to use the can idea, I would suggest using some of the really small juice cans, or maybe tomato paste cans. If your cans are too big they might not fit in the bag and hide too well.
And if you don't have a change bag, you could just make up a bunch of cut or tear and restore paper magic tricks. And walk around talking about how "You think once you use a piece of paper and tear it up and throw it away, it's gone right?" " But NO! When you recycle, it's magic it reappears as whole, ready to be used again!"
You could also let people know that the latex in a balloon animal balloon is designed to deteriorate or decompose faster than a leaf off a tree. (Its true!)
Hope this helps!

Earth Day April 16th, Follow up
Hey all you clowns,
Earth day went great! I walked around with my little broom and rug, walk up to fellow clowns and start sweeping them off and pushing the remains that I though I got off them under the rug. They would ask what I was doing and my reply: "I'm cleaning up this old world." It was a hit! Thank you so much!
The change bag idea went over well too.
Tomorrow we do the Opening of the Beaches Parade. Were using the SHAVE THE WHALES and the razor. Well let you know how it turned out.
Talk to you soon.
