Default Magic/ Story telling in combination

I think this fits in this catagory,
how many of you use story telling and use magic to compliment the story? This is something I am not very good at and would like to improve on, I'm guilty of getting in front of an audiance and going from one illusion to the next trick to a balloon display, etc. would love to hear about your favorite story/magic combination.

That trick is called "Professor's Nightmare" or "My Favorite Rope Trick". It is one of my favorite tricks. I have developed about 3 or 4 different stories for that routine depending on my audience and my character.

I use the professors nightmare to address peer pressure, being the same in gods eyes, never judging others by their looks, and wow there are so many good messages in that one little trick.I use to have a book that showed how to make that effect starting out as a cut and restore rope trick and you cut the peices and they end up being the right size for the prof. nightmare. If anyone knows where I can find that again I would be grateful.

There is a short booklet called, I think "42 Rope Tricks" that is great. I will see if I can locate my copy tomorrow and check it for stringing the two effects together. The booklet usually runs about $5. Another booklet is in the series "Magic City Library" for $3 it is a bargin.

Three or four different stories? Can't wait to hear them. I think I'll hover -over the creative possibilities of the "Professors Nightmare"
Sounds very, very delicious...

My first story is the basic. "I don't always pay attention but I really like magic. Do you guys like magic? Well I know this really good magician and he is trying to teach me a few things, but I get so excited that I, well sometimes I miss something important. Do you guys always pay attention to your Mommies and Daddies and do exactly what they say? Well he asked me to run upstairs and cut three pieces of magic rope... Zoom... I was off, and I didn't hear him say they all needed to be the same size. Are these the same size? Well they are close aren't they? No? He didn't think so either. I got the scissors and I was just going to cut them all the size of the short one but he said STOP!!! you can't just waste magic rope! It's expensive and special. Do you think money grows on trees? Have you ever heard someone say that? So then I tried to stretch them but have you ever tried to stretch a piece of rope? Finally he took the ropes from me and said he was going to show me once more how to fix ropes when they were the wrong size...."
Well that is the basic intro, come to think of it I use that intro or a variation of it for most versions of P.N. even if the rest of the story changes. I'll try and post another story later tonight.
