New Puppet
I was thinking about getting a puppet, but really don't know what I would use it for. Any suggestions?

If you are thinking about getting a puppet, you must have some ideas. What type puppet are you thinking about? Are you into jokes, teaching kids, or something else?

Ok so I've thought about getting a puppet again, but I don't have a routine, or any ideas. Can someone help me. I was thinking about getting a full body puppet of a clown, or maybe something else. Any ideas?

Barbra Dewey, A christian ventriloquist who makes puppets, made a clown puppet named Chuckles... He didn't talk but it had a sound box in its mouth that made it laugh when she would push it... If you're just begining to use a puppet that might be a good way to start out.

Being able to speak without moving your lips isn't a requirement for using a puppet. Brenda "Flowers" Marshal doesn't even pretend to be a vent with her giant frog and the kids love it. She reports when a child points out her lips are moving she just says "well duh! it is just a puppet ya know, Did you expect it to speak for itself?
The difference is whether or not you try the illusion or not. If you try to act like a vent without the ability if comes off as a fraud, while if you just have fun it comes off as fun.
There are a lot of Boy Scout skits that one can modify to use with a puppet, or if you become aware of a message that needs addressed for your program you can make your own ad lib show as if you are talking to a real person who needs advise. (Or the puppet could be teaching you)

You might also check this place out. One Way Street - Puppets and Creative Ministry Resources
Someone here gave me the link for Brenda's book, which is excellent, btw, but they seem to have an endless supply of Christian puppet stuff
