Sideshow Freak? I kinda wanna be..
So Ive been looking around for some info on learning sideshow tricks but i can't seem to find any instruction anywhere.... does anyone on here do any and if so where did you learn, and where can i find books/dvd/websites to help me learn. The kinda stuff im wanting is like the Nail in the Nose thing, eating a light bulb, fire breathing/eating, that type of stuff that most clowns wouldnt do.. im wanting to gear my show more towards older teens and college aged kids. Plus, i think it would be fun to learn. any info would be appreciated!

Hey Knute, Check out all you can about Todd Robbins. He's a master at the sideshow circuit and all that you're looking for. I saw him ages ago at the Desert Magic Seminar out in Las Vegas.

A very hard to find book
I have heard tell of a book called Swami Mantra which describes a lot of those tricks.
I don't know your age, so if you are under 18, or even 21, stay away from it!
Also, even if you find the book, and I myself have done a lot of searching(having only located one at a time I could not afford to buy it) I must stress that you really need to find a teacher for any of that kind of stuff. I wouldn't perform open heart surgery after reading Gray's Anatomy, and I sure wouldn't risk my own life messing around with something I had never been shown by a professional.
I do wish you luck in your search, and in your learning!!! Let us know how it works out....

Let us know...
Let us know what you find. I was under the impression Coney Island was closed-guess that is not true, huh? Well, I would sure like to hear something for curiosity's sake.
Good luck, again, on your endeavors!

Wow, thanks to your post I now know that Coney Island is still open-minus a few bits, but how awesome. I had to thank you again, now that I have looked it all up and checked it out. I guess you shouldn't believe everything you hear, huh?

Would you be doing your side show acts in clown or as another entertainer. Sounds like 'Adam Abnormal' or Abnormal Adam would be a cool name for you.
